Nell’epoca globalizzata e connessa in cui viviamo sembra molto difficile mantenere segreti; soprattutto, quando il segreto in questione riguarda il diffondersi di una malattia «simile alla SARS», con un tasso di diffusione rapidissimo, causata da un virus mai osservato al microscopio. Eppure, ci sono fondati motivi per ritenere che le autorità cinesi abbiano taciuto per alcune settimane l’emergere e il diffondersi del virus successivamente denominato SARS-CoV-2, settimane importanti per evitare il diffondersi di quest’ultimo, dentro e fuori i confini cinesi. Ci sono anche fondati motivi per ritenere che le autorità cinesi non abbiano fatto tutto quanto ragionevolmente possibile per arginare la diffusione del virus.
